‘THE FRANCHISE COACH’
Their knowledge and advice is firmly grounded in experience, and not theory learned from books. This is what puts ‘The Franchise Coach’ in a different league from others offering franchise consultancy and business mentoring services.
Through founder David McCulloch, The Franchise Coach team of advisors are imbued with the ethos of actively integrating advisor and client skill sets. By doing so a far stronger foundation is constructed on which to grow a franchise and achieve the client’s goals. Whether this is in New Zealand or internationally.
To date The Franchise Coach has been coach and business mentor to well over one hundred companies that have been successfully launched or revitalised by ‘The Franchise Coach’. No one shop can provide all your needs when undertaking a franchise project so The Franchise Coach has associates of like-minded, highly skilled professionals sharing a passion for franchising.
These include business development strategists, legal specialists, accountants, bankers, brand development managers, advertising consultants and marketing planners. Through these Associates, The Franchising Coach is your complete franchising resource fully capable of customising assistance with the establishment of new franchise systems including documentation, streamlining of existing practices, increasing growth and profitability, recruitment of franchisees and franchisors and management of chances within systems.
The Franchise Coach is pivotal ensuring that everyone works to the same end goal. The Franchise Coach founder David McCulloch In the 1986 David and his wife Laurel launched as a franchise system his own very successful juice manufacturing and marketing business.
These were pioneer days of franchising in New Zealand. There were no franchising consultants or advisors to call on. Banks had no franchise finance specialists. Lawyers and accountants had little or no knowledge of franchising legal and financial intricacies. For David McCulloch this meant learning franchising at the school of hard knocks. Over the years he has gained invaluable experience as both franchisor and franchisee. It was a logical progression and reflection of David’s passion for franchising to establish a business in 1996 where his experience and hands-on know how could be most beneficial to the greatest number of those seeking to franchise or invest in a franchise.
Immediate feedback was extremely positive with clients suggesting that working with David’s consultancy was like having their very own franchise coach. And with that ‘The Franchise Coach’ as a business concept was born. The Franchise Coach client portfolio spreads all over New Zealand and increasingly offshore where the partnership has been a key advisor to the World Bank in their “Introducing Franchising to Vietnam” programme.
In 1990 David was appointed the founding director member of the NZ Chapter of the Franchise Association of Australia and New Zealand, and then in 1995 elected as the inaugural Chairman of the Franchise Association of New Zealand. David has also been guest presenter at the University of Auckland and other educational facilities, tutoring on franchising. “I believe the true value of The Franchise Coach to our clients lies in each client being able to adopt the knowledge gained for themselves, thus taking ownership of the process and their business.”… David McCulloch.
‘One size fits all’ will fail in franchising The Franchise Coach employs a 5-step process centered on tailoring a solution specific to the needs of each client’s business and goals.
Step 1 Initial Consultation Involves fact finding and gaining an initial appreciation of the business.
Step 2 Discovery Process Involves key stakeholders of the business. These are the people in a business responsible for managing any strategic goal or change within the organisation. These stakeholders will be required to workshop issues with The Franchise Coach partners. Positive and negative aspects of the business must be openly addressed to diagnose the health of the franchise.
Step 3 Franchise System Development The Franchise Coach now in conjunction with the client develops action plans. This will include a strategy, operational plan, time frames, budgets, resources required, etc.
Step 4 Progress Reviews Regular sharing of information in debrief sessions will ensure all key stakeholders are kept informed of factors affecting their areas. This will also ensure focus is maintained and sight is not lost of the ultimate goal.
Step 5 Achieving Specific Needs and Mentoring On achieving the end goal The Franchise Coach offers a mentoring service to ensure that focus is maintained.
Member of the Franchise Association of New Zealand The Franchise Coach is a founding and active member of the Franchise Association of New Zealand, adhering to the Code of Practice and the Code of Ethics, and encouraging clients to join to benefit for the networking and to adapt the Association’s standards of competence.
The Franchise Coach together with other franchising specialists holds regular public franchising seminars. International - Expansion Franchising is truly an international business strategy making the creation of worldwide brands obtainable. The Franchise Coach has an international network of associates and co-brokers specialising in global expansion. Export is one half of the equation, importing of systems into New Zealand is an area where The Franchise Coach has experience in due diligence, adaptation for the New Zealand market and planned implementation.
