History of the United Video franchise
United Video franchise is a New Zealand-based firm specialising in the rental of DVDs, video and games. Established in 1984 with just three stores, United Video developed as a trading co-operative and had 35 stores by 1989. United Video commenced its franchise operations in 1989, and in 1993 the United Video Franchising Limited was set up. The United Video Franchising Limited was formed to independently manage United Video. From 47 stores in 1989 the United Video franchise grew into a strong network of 77 stores in 2001.
On 18th September 2001 The Entertainers Limited purchased the business. However the business still operates under the trade name of United Video Franchising. As of 30 June 2004, the DVD and games rental franchise had 90 stores located across New Zealand. The main driving factor behind the success of the home entertainment retail franchise is its policy to develop profitable and quality stores. The United Video franchise’s Head Office team possess about 45 years of vast experience in the video industry.
William McPartland, who is today the CEO of the DVD and games rental franchise, was the founder of the United Video Franchising. His vast experience and in-depth knowledge is a boon to all members wishing to join the United Video franchise network.
