Video Ezy
The New Zealand franchise rights are held by two Auckland businessmen, Kevin Peterson and Russell Clark, who are the Directors of Video Ezy International (NZ) Ltd.
The New Zealand chain has 163 extremely successful stores, under the Video Ezy franchise, situated in main centres from Kaitaia to Invercargill, with 49 in greater Auckland. Video Ezy has plans for further new stores in various other New Zealand cities to be operative during 2004.
The group is very buoyant regarding the future of the home entertainment business with each of its franchisees reporting record business over the past few months. The fast growing area of DVD and video games, already a $US20 billion business worldwide, has enormous potential and all Video Ezy stores are experiencing huge growth carry the highly sought after Sony Playstation, PS2, Nintendo Game Cube and Microsoft's X-Box games for both hire and sale.
Russell Clark, who is also the group Marketing Director, has strong ties to the world of show business. He has promoted such international stars as Rod Stewart, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Bob Hope, Muhammad Ali, Cliff Richard and many more.
In 1982, he formed New Zealand's first video movie distribution company - Video Power Ltd - and was instrumental in introducing video movies for hire into the New Zealand marketplace.
Kevin Peterson, a chartered accountant, is the Financial Director of Video Ezy, who joined up with Russell Clark in 1984. They have worked together in the industry since. Kevin is responsible for new store developments throughout New Zealand.
Kevin had previously worked overseas for 12 years with the International Accounting firm Deloittes Touche and was involved in corporate investigations management consultancy, audit and taxation before returning to New Zealand.
Both Clark and Peterson moved out of the video movie distribution business in 1991 as they could see the potential for a franchised video retail chain, such as had been established by Video Ezy Australia.
Russell Clark's background in show business ensured that the chain would get maximum marketing and promotion through television, radio and print media. The extremely successful promotions that the New Zealand group have mounted, using such draw cards as Canberra Raiders' Mel Meninga, Laurie Daley and Ricky Stuart as well as our own All Blacks, The Warriors and entertainment personalities like "The Simpsons", Martin Henderson and Greer Robson (ex-stars of Shortland Street), have made Video Ezy entertainment centres throughout New Zealand the market leaders in home entertainment.
