Cartel law to be clarified for franchise community
Franchisors and franchisees can expect to see changes to the Cartels Bill that will not have a negative impact on their business operations.
The Franchise Association of New Zealand reports there will be amendments to the Bill following submissions to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
The Bill is designed to promote competition by preventing fixed pricing, restrictive outputs or allocation of markets through cartels.
Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister Paul Goldsmith has agreed to amend the Cartels Bill to clarify how it will have an impact on restraint of trade provisions in franchising agreements.
