Snap-on Tools competition searches for top apprentices in Australia and NZ
Snap-on Tools Australia and New Zealand invites entries to the annual prestigious Snap-on Tools Apprentice of the Year competition.
Now in its sixth year, the search for Australia and New Zealand’s top apprentices begins with hundreds of apprentices across heavy vehicle, marine, aviation and automotive trades expected to compete for the top prize.
This year’s contest has an additional flavour with entries also sought from apprentices within the Armed Forces. Snap-on Tools seeks to recognise the contribution of the defence sector to the development of technical skills in younger Australians.
The 2014 awards will include a dedicated prize package for an armed forces apprentice who has excelled within their field; the prize will only be given to a high calibre entry.
Members of the judging panel include industry heavyweights such as V8 Supercar Legend Todd Kelly, representatives from Auto Skills Australia, the Motor Traders Association and the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association as well as Australian Army’s National Technical Training manager Wayne Allan.
Apprentices will have to prove their all-round capabilities including superior technical ability, knowledge and skills. The overall winner will take home a prize package valued at up to $12,000, including a Snap-on Tools product pack featuring all the essentials to set an apprentice up for life, a Flat Black 40-inch Roll Cab to store their growing tool collection in, and sought-after accessories.
Award categories in the Snap-on Tools Apprentice of the Year competition also include Apprentice of the Year Rising Star for a new apprentice showing talent and promise; and, Contribution to Armed Forces for an apprentice who goes above and beyond to service the armed forces.
The competition is now open and closes 5pm August 29, 2014.
