UFC GYM to franchise in New Zealand

Inside Franchise Business: UFC GYM is heading to New ZealandGlobal fitness franchise UFC GYM will launch in New Zealand.

The brand currently has 10 locations open throughout the Australian market with another 10 set to open in 2019, all operating under Maz Hagemrad. The UFC GYM Australia team will also operate the new locations based in New Zealand.

Maz Hagemrad, UFC GYM Australia CEO, said “As we make our presence felt in the Australian market, it is a natural progression for us to move into New Zealand.” 

The New Zealand market is particularly appealing for UFC GYM which offers high intensity mixed martial arts group classes for all ages and fitness levels. According to the IBISWorld Gyms & Fitness Centres - New Zealand Market Research Report (2018, April) 79 per cent of the market is aged 15 - 54, a new-found territory for UFC GYM and MMA fans.

“With continued annual and projected growth in fitness, the New Zealand market is the perfect place for UFC GYM to grow,” said Tamer El-Guindy, UFC GYM SVP Global Franchising. “With Maz and team driving the business we know UFC GYM New Zealand will be a huge success.”

The 10 year old gym business has opened more than 150 locations across Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Chile, Dubai, Egypt, Mexico, Oman, The Philippines, Taiwan, the US and Vietnam.

Recent signings will take the UFC GYM to India, Japan the UK and Ireland. With the announcement of New Zealand, UFC GYM will have a presence in 30 countries around the world.
